Goldman Sachs - Site 25 Facade & Atrium Upgrade

Sciame was responsible for the removal and replacement of approximately 30,000 SF of existing building envelope area while a 400+ key hotel, Regal Theater Cinemas, and a food service tenant remained in operation. The mixed-use complex also included a major public atrium and pedestrian circulation serving the theater and retail spaces. In addition to the logistics associated with the adjacent 200 West Glass Canopy, significant measures were taken to address overhead protection and carefully sequence the work. Sciame implemented creative solutions to establish work zones that provided the required protection while minimizing the construction footprint.

Facade removals included large precast concrete, brick-faced, and granite-faced panels, as well as an existing marquee and canopy. The newly exposed building areas were refitted with a high-end curtain wall, storefronts, entrances, and canopies. To isolate the interior, Sciame planned and constructed weather walls prior to facade removal, allowing tenant spaces to remain operational throughout construction.

The work was part of the larger transformation of the former Embassy Suites into the Conrad New York, including a major redesign of the 15-story atrium. The renovated atrium incorporated Monica Ponce de León’s large-scale suspended Veil installation while retaining Sol LeWitt’s monumental Loopy Doopy mural as a focal point. Sciame was part of the team responsible for the overall renovation and installation of The Veil.
