Studio Museum in Harlem
Sciame is the Construction Manager responsible for the new five story, 82,000 SF museum, replacing the existing home of the historic Studio Museum in Harlem. The new museum will contain a larger and enhanced gallery space, dedicated art receiving area, store and café, operations offices, and a climate controlled gallery preparation suite.
The lobby’s space will increase in size and become a welcoming civic lobby that engages with the 125th street. It will also have the capabilities to transform into a flexible outdoor space, which will encourage public interaction and extend event space. The museum will have a larger theater and contain state-of-the-art lighting, sound, AV, and infrastructure.

The New Victory Theater – Originally built in 1900 as The Republic, the first performing arts venue on 42nd Street, the theater was transformed into The New Victory in 1995, becoming New York’s first theater for children and families. The renovation uncovered and restored original architectural elements, added a new lobby carved from the existing structure and bedrock, rebuilt the historic staircase, and created space for much-needed restrooms. A rear wing was added for backstage access, dressing rooms, workshops, and a loading dock, while new elevators and rooftop HVAC systems were integrated to meet modern needs of the historic theater.
