The Art Students League of New York

Sciame is the Construction Manager for the phased exterior restoration and MEP upgrades of the landmark Art Students League building in Midtown Manhattan. The work includes historic masonry restoration of the North and South facades, roof replacement, and replacement of the historic skylights. In addition, there will be interior reprogramming and major HVAC upgrades.

The project requires close coordination between the roof, skylight, waterproofing, facade, and mechanical scopes within the constraints of an existing historic building. New skylight curbs and waterproofing will be integrated with the roof replacement, while the skylight design will address water shedding, thermal performance, daylighting, and gallery and studio requirements. The school and gallery will remain operational through construction, requiring careful phasing, protection, and coordination to minimize disruption to daily activities.
