Sciame was the Construction Manager responsible for the renovation of the Mark Hotel. The building is a 180,000 SF landmark building originally constructed in 1927. In 2007, the new owners of the hotel (The Alexico Group) enlisted SLCE alongside Sciame Construction in renovating the prestigious Upper East Side hotel.
The task involved the restoration of the existing brick and limestone facade and the renovation of all the interior floors. The hotel rooms were remodeled to achieve a mixed use building of hotel (floors 2-9), hotel/ condominiums (floors 10-12) and condominiums (floors 13-15). The ground floor was restored to house the new Bar Mark and Restaurant and the balance of the 2nd floor to include the Salon Mark by Frederic Fekkai and fitness center.
We’re turning 50! As we count down to Sciame’s 50th anniversary on June 13th, we’re celebrating the moments that shaped us. For the next 50 days, we’ll be sharing one standout project a day in our “Countdown to 50”.
Thank you to our amazing clients, team, and friends! We wouldn’t be here without you.
Sciame is honored to have served as the construction manager for the expansion and refurbishment of The Frick Collection, working alongside Selldorf Architects and Beyer Blinder Belle to bring this vision to life. As the museum prepares to reopen next month, we’re pleased to see this project receive high praise in The New York Times from esteemed architecture critic Michael Kimmelman.
