Sciame was the Construction Manager responsible for the multi-year restoration of Trinity Church, an episcopal church with a rich history dating to 1697. The current building, completed in 1846, was designed by British architect Richard Upjohn and is now a registered National Historic Landmark. The surrounding cemetery contains monuments to Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton. The church is one of the earliest Neo-Gothic structures in the United States and is considered a masterpiece of masonry construction.
The restoration of Trinity Church was led by MBB Architects and Building Conservation Associates. Work on the church included a sensitive interior renovation and conservation, building systems upgrade, accessibility enhancements, and site improvements. The original stained-glass windows were thoroughly examined and restored both on and off-site. Office and service spaces have been enhanced to support the multi-programmatic missions of Trinity Church.
Sciame is honored to have served as the construction manager for the expansion and refurbishment of The Frick Collection, working alongside Selldorf Architects and Beyer Blinder Belle to bring this vision to life. As the museum prepares to reopen next month, we’re pleased to see this project receive high praise in The New York Times from esteemed architecture critic Michael Kimmelman.
