Sciame is the Construction Manager responsible for the new construction of the + POOL at Manhattan’s Pier 35, a waterfront location on the Lower East Side offering stunning views of Brooklyn. The mission of + POOL is to promote the preservation, restoration, and conservation of natural bodies of water, while also providing top- notch swim instruction and environmental education for residents of New York City. The goal is to create a future where everyone can enjoy the water that surrounds them.

To bring this vision to life, + POOL is in the process of creating a one-of-a-kind water-filtering, floating pool that will be installed in New York’s inner harbor, as well as in other locations throughout the state and beyond. This innovative pool will have the capability to filter 1,000,000 gallons of water per day without the need for chemicals or additives. The patented filtration system consists of three layers and a final disinfection process, ensuring that the water meets the standards for safe swimming.

The + POOL is not just a single pool, but rather four pools in one: a Kid’s pool, Sports pool, Lap pool, and Lounge pool. Each section can be used independently to cater to different types of swimmers, or they can be combined to create an Olympic-length lap pool. Furthermore, the pools can be fully opened up to create a spacious 9,000 SF pool for recreational activities. With its unique design and offshore location, + POOL is set to become an iconic piece of public infrastructure, accessible to all residents of New York City.
