The Metropolitan Opera House - VIP Entry Lobby Renovation

Sciame was the Construction Manager responsible for the construction and renovation of the 2,000 SF south lobby at the Metropolitan Opera House, which now serves as a mixed-use space. The south lobby is now separated from the main lobby area by two brass partitions, which allows the south lobby to be used as a VIP Entrance and an educational and event space. In addition, the south lobby features a Vitruv wall, pantry area and a new elevator entrance.

The scope of work consisted of the removal of a staircase, the demolition of the existing space, adding a new elevator door opening and closing the structural floor, new plaster walls and ceilings of the entire area. In addition, the project required adding a catering prep area, renovating the terrazzo floor, custom millwork and a custom fabricated 10×10 bronze single pivot entry gate.

The renovated lobby was designed to decrease congestion leading up to the commencement of each performance.
